Yes. And then the protagonist trips down a flight of stairs and falls onto a street in 1960. There is a portal! And returns quickly.
The premise is that a person (played by Chris Cooper) has this portal that is a time changer -- wants the James Franco character to go back in time and prevent JFK's assassination.
The two characters get into a discussion of how -- or if -- can the past really be changed?
Yup, I'm pretty sure I'll keep watching this one!

Chris Carter writes great entertainment with slapstick, irony, and double entendres while keeping Mulder and Scully busy with a true X file topic. Which reminded me of his best quirky off-shoot production characters, computer nerds and go-to consultants for the fringe FBI agents.
Top reviewers lament the cancellation of their television stories, and one even applies the “conspiracy theory” reason (tongue in cheek I'm sure) as to the reason for the abandonment of an entertaining trio. I know I'll enjoy this disc all over again.
Many I know are looking forward to the Spring Equinox release of the quartet -- a trilogy in the books, and I'm glad the films didn't skimp on the adventures and visuals of this story.
I read the last book of the three and still plan to go back and read number one and two. A great female role model and hero, albeit out of time and space to truly emulate.

Last night the cast won the SAG award- again! And they looked quite odd on the stage without their art deco costume jewelry (gorgeous reproductions!) and Edwardian fashions.
It has been over for a while for the actors, and life must seem quite different for them after the years... I wonder if later in life any of them will curl up in the easy chair and re-view the series set in Highclere Castle.
